EDLD 5363 - Final Video

http://youtu.be/qaXZEgief9g

Web Conference Blog Journal

The web conferences were very informative and answered all my questions.  I was a little upset that a few were cancelled with any notification.  I am a coach and have basketball games on Tuesday and Friday and was not able to attend those held on those days. The other courses had their conferences on days that were good for everyone.  I noticed only a handful of students attended these conferences,   I did attend those that were on Mondays, Saturday, and Sundays,  .  I attended the conferences on December 16, December 8 and 9.  My questions were always answered and I learned alot from my colleagues.  They were short and sweet and to the point.

Week 5 Reflection

The video was great.  Glad to have this assignment finished.  I didn’t know what to expect at the beginning of the class. I had used video editing software before, but only the very basic. I made video just for fun to see what i could do.  This class introduced me to a lot of things that i will use in my classroom from now on.  from Dropbox, Google Docs, and Audacity, are very useful tools that I will use from now on.  I was a bit worried at the beginning of the group project, how are we going to get together to complete this project.  The tools that  I was introduced to in this course made our jobs easier where everyone could share their ideas for everyone to see.  Everybody in the group did a great job gathering information and doing their parts and getting it to the right people.  Thanks to Jessica for setting up the google doc to share our ideas and serve as gathering place.  Amanda did a great job getting the actors together and filming the scenes.  David chose the music and added narration.  And thanks to Elenor for putting everything together and making a great video.  This was a fun yet stressful project.  Hope everyone enjoys their break.

Week 4 - EDLD 5363 Reflection

I did the narration for scenes 2,4,7 and shared them with the rest of the group using Dropbox.  I recorded my narration using Audacity.  It is a great program and something that I will try to use in my class.  Dropbox is another program that I was afraid to use, but made it easy to share my audio files with the rest of the groups.  I now linked all my devices to dropbox.  This class has just flown by and can’t wait to see our finished product.

EDLD Week 3 Reflection

I thought that this week went really well.  I was a little bit scared about having to do a group assignment. We came together using google docs, and through email to come up with our game plan and I feel that everything is coming along. I am happy with the progress we made throughout the week.  I look forward to week four to see how much more progress we make.     I thought that the readings were very helpful, especially the success is in the planning article.  It was all the other readings rolled up into one article. It covered everything from the types of shots to use for a particular scene.  It was your basic how to guide put in very simple language.  The other articles were good, but this article was the best of all the readings.

EDLD 5363 - Week 2 Reflection

This was a long week for me.  We got knocked out of the football playoffs last Friday and started basketball with an out of town game on Tuesday and a basketball tournament this weekend.  And to top it off I came down with a miserable cold.  This was a fun assignment.  I learned a lot about the different video editing systems that are out there.  I was afraid of having to use Audacity, but it was a easy application to download and use. I wanted to do a video podcast and was researching screen capture software and thanks to Travis Patocka, I found screencast-o-matic.com.  This was another software download that was painless and fun to work with.  I could have used my built in web cam to do it but the upgrade was $20.  It was fun to create my video podcast. Luckily my sore throat cleared up enough for me to narrate. I was about to bash my head into a wall when I uploaded the wrong video to YouTube and deleted the file that I wanted to use.  But, I was able to find the old file, thank you screencast-o-matic, luckily it kept the last file I saved.  This was tough, but fun week for me.  I liked looking at all the free software out there.  I will definitely share what I have learned with my fellow teachers.

Week 1 Reflection - EDLD 5363

I was excited to create my personal digital story.  I chose to make mine about the district that I work at.  We have a lot of success at the in the early part of this year.  Our volleyball team made it to the state tournament for the second time in three years.  Our football team made the playoffs and won the bi-district championship.  Our district has undergone a face lift in the last few months.  We put in new turf and track at the football stadium and will start building a new high school in February.  I thought this would be a great opportunity to showcase what our district has done in the last year.

This assignment helped me find out about new technologies that I can implement in my classroom.  I can use what I have learned and have my students create digital stories about themselves to introduce themselves to me and as a way to conduct presentations on what they have learned in my classroom.

Week 2 Podcast Script

Today I am going to show you how to create a video project using Windows Live Movie Maker.  Movie Maker comes preinstalled on computers using the Windows operating system; it can also be downloaded for free at www.microsoft.com.
To open Movie Maker, click the Start button, all programs, and select Windows Live Movie Maker.  To add photos or video click the add videos and photos tab.  You can select one photo at a time or select multiple photos by clicking each photo while holding down the control key and click open.  Your photos have been imported.  You can rearrange photos by clicking and dragging to the position you want them in.  You can rotate the photos and remove them if necessary.  Under the animations tab you can add transitions and under the visual effects tab you can add color effects to you photos.  You can add a title to your movie, a caption to one of you photos, and closing credits.
To add music, click the add music tab and select a song from your music library.  The length of the song will be the same as the length of the photos.  To play the entire song, click on the project tab and select fit to music.  This will play the entire song adjusting the length of the photos to fit.
Movie Maker can create a movie for you, by clicking AutoMovie s. Movie Maker will create a movie with a title page, different animations, and color schemes with closing credits.  You can preview a portion of you movie by placing your cursor above one of the AutoMovie Themes or by clicking on the View tab and selecting preview full screen.
Once you completed your movie you can save it for editing or upload to YouTube or Facebook. You can also save it to your computer to upload at another time.
Microsoft Live Movie Maker is free and easy to use, just a couple clicks here and there and you have created your own movie that you can share with others.
